The Branch, the vine..
Zechariah continues in these visions from the Lord. What a blessing by the way: the Lord speaking to Zechariah in such a vivid way, and multiple visions. We're so blessed the Lord had these visions inscribed for us to read and understand today.
Paul does a great job writing about our righteousness in Christ in Philippians 3. We have much in common with Joshua the high priest without the righteousness of Christ, "Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel." Zech 3:3
But because of Jesus (the Branch v8) this same things happens to us, "He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, saying, "Remove the filthy garments from him." Again he said to him, "See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and will clothe you with festal robes." Zech 3:4
What a beautiful thing for those who trust in Jesus?! We too are given new garments and are made clean and righteous in Christ. Apart from Christ our good works are like filthy rags, but in Christ we are holy, beloved, and righteous. What a thing to celebrate, to talk about, and to share with others. What freedom we're given in Jesus and He promises as we abide in Him John 15:1-5.
