Big talk. Job responds to the Lord's questions: "Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth. Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further." Job 40:4-5

Job once declared that if given the chance to stand before the Lord, he would approach with confidence (Job 13:22) and present his case boldly, like a prince (Job 31:37). Yet now, faced with God's presence, he covers his mouth in silence, unable to respond. Job thought he had all the answers, but he discovers he knows far less than he believed.

We, too, can fall into the trap of big talk. We may think we know best, have all the answers, or stand confidently in our own righteousness before God. But when His presence touches our situation, we see things differently.

To stand humble before the Lord is the best place to be. It's where we learn to lean on Him rather than our own strength or wisdom. Who are you relying on today? Whose strength and wisdom are you trusting? Be wise and strong, but before the Lord, remain humble and open to His guidance.
