Something from nothing!
Remember the state of Jerusalem. Ezra 2:13 mentions the older priest weeped at the new temple because it wasn't as magnificent as the first. Most people had not returned to Jerusalem. It was an empty land compared to a prosperous Jerusalem.
The Lord says, "Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it. For I,' declares the Lord, 'will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.' " Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will dwell in your midst," Zech 2:4-5, 10
Do you know today Jerusalem is exactly as the Lord said? At 49 square miles Jerusalem goes beyond the walls of the original city. It truly is the Holy Land the Lord proclaimed it would be.
The Lord's word came in a time where many thought this wasn't able to happen. The Lord looked at what some people would say was nothing, and made it something.
This is precisely who the Lord is and this passage is a wonderful picture of His character. The Lord truly speaks into our lives as well, into the impossible, into the nothingness, and breathes life and makes things possible. Thank you Lord!
