Seven chapters deep into Song of Solomon so it’s time… Sexual desire and sex were created by the Lord to be enjoyed and to procreate. Strong language here from the Shulamite and the Beloved.

“Your navel is a rounded goblet; It lacks no blended beverage. Your waist is a heap of wheat Set about with lilies. Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle.” Song of Solomon 7:2-3

“Let us get up early to the vineyards; Let us see if the vine has budded, Whether the grape blossoms are open, And the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love.” Song of Solomon 7:12

Sex is good and should be enjoyed in marriage. These two had an appetite for each other. It’s important in any season of marriage to enjoy the gift the Lord has given us. In Genesis he created man, he then created woman out of the man, officiated the first wedding ceremony, and gave the first instruction to “be fruitful and multiply”.

The world teaches to have sex outside marriage and has vilified that which the Lord has made for good; perverted the sanctity of the marriage bed, but that doesn’t mean we have to treat it as such. Enjoy the gift the Lord has given us in marriage. Sex draws us closer to each other and at times produces little ones who we are to raise up in His ways. All and all sex is good and made to be enjoyed.

Not married? The Shulamite has said multiple times in the Song of Solomon, “do not arouse love until it’s time”. Wait… in the covenant of marriage there is a blessing on the marriage bed that doesn’t exist outside of it. No scary stories to scare you away just a promise of God’s goodness that’s only given inside the covenant of marriage.
