The other side of love...
The book of Ruth tells the story of redemption which is the greatest act of love. This is an OT picture of the redemption of Jesus Christ in the NT. Even in this beautiful record there is only one time "love" is mentioned in this book. Yet we see the acts of love woven throughout the record.
"Remain this night, and when morning comes, if he will redeem you, good; let him redeem you. But if he does not wish to redeem you, then I will redeem you, as the Lord lives. Lie down until morning."" Ruth 3:13
Ruth's loving sacrifice towards Naomi. Boaz's loving redemption of Ruth. The effort of love of each act from Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz is clearly seen. We will see the acts of love from Ruth and Boaz open up Naomi's heart once again to the goodness of God.
The other side of love isn't feelings or emotions but actions and deeds. What are you willing to do to show others your love for them? Is the love you show based upon others actions? As we love sacrificially hearts are opened towards each other and hearts are stirred towards the Lord. Who will you love first today? Remember He first loved us and redemption happened because of His act of love.
