Apocalypse. End times. Death and destruction. Hollywood has done a great job of depicting these terms in a way that brings fear to the world. We could even be guilty of instilling fear in people in how we present the book of Revelation of ourselves.

In chapter six we see the four-horseman riding on a white, red, black, and pale horse. Each wreaking havoc on the world stage. This apocalyptic literature is a view of things from the spiritual which will take place in the physical. Corrupt leaders parading as a savior, battles and war, death and destruction, famine and hunger will be heightened on a world scale during this time. But have you considered these things are taking place now on a smaller scale?

“And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer…. And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword… And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand… And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him.” Revelation 6:2-8 partial

What do we do about these things now. As we read thru Revelation the hope and prayer are that we are spiritually affected today. Let this imagery stir us to a place where our family members, co-workers, and acquaintances aren’t safe from the Gospel. May it stir us up, so we present the truth and love of God this day. For today is the day of salvation for some. Do you believe God has the power to redeem who you may think is unredeemable?

Don’t let reading Revelation create fear in you. Let the reading of this book stir you up to love and good works. For you have been called to minister a Gospel of peace and reconciliation.
