Social media post with likes and comments, text, emails, and phone calls are many of the ways we communicate today. In the past it was face-to-face, or letters penned by hand. What if Jesus wrote you a letter today, what do you think the letter would say?

Written in red letters Jesus speaks to Sardis, Philadelphia (not the US city), and the Laodiceans. Sardis is considered lifeless while Philadelphia is commended for faithfulness and the Laodiceans are rebuked for being lukewarm. Different circumstances for different bodies of the church and seasons of the church, but all things we can relate too.

Jesus took time to speak into their lives whether to commend or correct. He was present, He cared, He loved them enough not to be silent. “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Revelation 3:5

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. Revelation 3:12

“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:21

To each Jesus shared how to be an overcomer. He gave them an opportunity to remain faithful or turn from their lifelessness and lukewarmness. What would He write to you today? Would it be correction or commendation? With either of those one thing would be for sure, He would give you an opportunity to turn to Him. Don’t ignore His heart for you. For some His letter would be left in the envelope unread. John said, “Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come”. He is living and active desiring a relationship with all those who would turn to Him.
