Before we even knew there was a problem the Father already provided a solution.

We read in Revelation 13 the dragon from chapter 12 (Satan) gives power to this beast described here. That beast seemingly could be a governmental authority or an individual. Most likely it is a government structure with a charismatic leader at the head. Germany’s government in Hitler’s day is more remembered for Hitler then the government itself. Power and authority will be exercised over people in defiance of God.

Even though we read about this on a larger scale it’s also present today at an individual level. The push, and hunger, for individualism and power is in itself a spirit that is anti-god in nature. Jesus once spoke to His disciples about how to lead saying not to lord authority over people but to come in humility and servitude.

With your kids, at work, and in your families do you recognize in yourself a desire to be served rather than to serve? Even as a leader we should be looking to serve and not to be served. Anything contrary to this is the hunger for power. This being showcased on the world scene will eventually lead to the season we read about today.

“It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. If anyone has an ear, let him hear.” Revelation 13:7-9

But even before there was a problem the Father provided a solution. Before the foundation of the world the plan of Jesus being slain was in the works. Our biggest issue isn’t power and authority, its that we haven’t submitted to a loving God who gave His all for us. This week we celebrate the birth of the Lamb who has been slain. He lived to abundantly die, so we could die to abundantly live. Reflect on His goodness and may you be found serving instead of being served.
