What or who reigns your life? Your first thought may be, “I am the king or queen of my life. I run my own life” or you may have thought of someone who dictates how you live your life. Here is the hard truth: Everyone submits to something or someone and it affects how we perceive and act each day.
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.” Romans 6:12
That word “reign” in that Scripture means “to exercise kingly power, to influence, or to control”. As a follower of Jesus, did you know that His death freed you from sin reigning in your life? He has given you the power and freedom by the Holy Spirit living in you. You are not held captive to the leadership, influence, and control of sin anymore. Where once you walked according to the world’s influence and lust of sin you have been freed from its tyrannical reign. You do not have to obey; you can choose to follow the heavenly call. That call? To express love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. What will you choose today? The choice is yours.
