If you are not a leader then don’t read this. Mark it as read and move on, nothing to see here!   Israel had just suffered its first defeat. They had some accursed items amidst the camp. The people had just witnessed the judgment of the Lord for their disobedience. It was time to move on they couldn’t just wallow in their discouragement, they were on mission. As a leader look at this one verse that says much about how to lead.

“Joshua therefore sent them out; and they went to lie in ambush, and stayed between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua lodged that night among the people.” Joshua 8:9

Joshua lodged with the people. Mom, dad… leading your family starts with spending time with your kids. Team leader, business leader… know your team, spend time with them, “lodge among them”. Student… if you know Christ you are a leader too. Your individuality isn’t what leads others but your heart to understand where others are and desire to help them through that. We are all leaders in some way or another, where or who are you leading them too?

Jesus said, “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”” Matthew 20:26-28

Jesus by far is the best leader, where do you find Him? Spending with the Father and being among His people. Quit being a top-down leader and recognize as a leader you are a servant of all. Leader, how will you serve someone today and lead them to the fount of living water?
