Tetris has helped me to learn how to pack lots of stuff in our van when the family is going on vacation. Chelsea packs some of the house and it’s my job to fit all our luggage in the van so we can comfortably travel. This time I asked the Lord for help as I tried to pack it all up. Chelsea comes out and says, “wow, we have so much room.” Of course, I took the credit and quickly was reminded by the Lord how He was the one who gave me the wisdom to complete the task. Israel has just come off a victory at Jericho then this little place of Ai hands turn their first defeat. What does Joshua lead the people to do?
“Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads. And Joshua said, “Alas, Lord God, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all—to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan!” Joshua 7:6-7
He recognized that it was all about the Lord. Victories, defeats, actions… all had to do with the Lord. There’s a lot in this chapter but let’s learn we should get rid of anything that could prohibit all He has for us. It’s all for His glory and if it becomes not… stop and quickly return to Him. I don’t know about you, but I hope my life is a recognition of His great name.
