Me, myself and I… the unholy trinity! There is an 80s song with these lyrics, “I gotta do it my way, Or no way at all.”

Joshua has led Israel to divide up the land. Many years had passed since this conquest first began. Even the Lord told Joshua he was old, and more time had passed since then :), "Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.” Joshua 13:1

Now, at the end of dividing all the land for Israel we read, “When they had made an end of dividing the land as an inheritance according to their borders, the children of Israel gave an inheritance among them to Joshua the son of Nun. According to the word of the Lord they gave him the city which he asked for, Timnath Serah in the mountains of Ephraim; and he built the city and dwelt in it.” Joshua 19:49-50

What do we see here? We see a great leader. How many times do we see Joshua concerned about himself or asking what about his way? Never.   Do you know how to be a great leader? Be a great servant. We are leading our families, at our workplaces and places in between. We lead others where we live, work, and play. I am not saying practice "no self-care" but I am saying lead by putting others before yourself. Jesus told us He came not to be served but to serve. You can either be focused on me, myself, and I or you can be like the greatest leader of and practice a servant’s heart. One way is all about yourself and will leave you empty. The other is centered around loving God and people and brings a life full of adventure and joy. You decide!
