Would you take a moment no matter where you are or what you are doing to spend it with the Father? Maybe you have never done this before… that’s okay… let today be the day!
We have been reading about the dividing of the land for the nation of Israel. Deuteronomy 7:1-11 talks about the Lord going before Israel and telling them to drive the people completely out of the land. Remember, what we see practically in the Old Testament can be applicable spiritually with the New Testament church. The OT is chocked full of examples. 3x now in the last three chapters we notice a similar phrase.
“As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.” Joshua 15:63 “And they did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day and have become forced laborers.” Joshua 16:10 “Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land. And it happened, when the children of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out.” Joshua 17:12-13
They did NOT drive them out like they were told too. This morning I reflect if there is something I am not doing the Father has spoken to me. Is there sometime in your life spiritually the Lord has been impressing on you that you are not fully surrendering too? 3x in three days we see the same phrase and disobedience to this command. The results would be devastating to the people of Israel. The results can be spiritual devastating to us too!
“He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah” Psalms 24:4-6
Would you take a moment to ask the Lord to clean your hands and purify your heart before Him? There is blessing in seeking after Him. Maybe you already have spent time with Him today, maybe not. Find a worship song, play it, and pray. If you have never done this before, do it now! If you don’t have a good standing relationship with Jesus, why not start one today? My phone is open… call and we will pray together for that very thing. Whatever He is telling you to get rid of completely out of the land of your heart do it today!
