Inheritance. What is the first thing you think about when you read or hear the word, ‘inheritance’?

Joshua is continuing to divide up the land. We see in this chapter the tribe of Ephraim and Manasseh (sons of Joseph) receive their portion of land. Hundreds of years earlier Jacob (their grandfather) laid his hands on them and blessed them, as his on sons, on behalf of the Lord. We read about the fulfillment of this promise coming to pass all these years later.

“So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.” Joshua 16:4

The promise of inheritance made hundreds of years earlier came to pass as the Lord said it. As always, so many examples of practical promises made in the Old Testament pointing to spiritual promises made to the church in the New Testament. Do you know the promise He has made to the child of God in the New Testament?

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” I Peter 1:3-7

We have been promised that which cannot be corrupted and is pure. The reservation has been made by the Father Himself by the blood of Jesus. So now, during tough times let the genuineness of your faith be found to praise, glory, and honor Jesus! We are blessed indeed, take a moment to praise the Lord!
