“Alright Lord, here I am. You promised! Do what You said You will do. I am here waiting.” Ever found yourself saying something like this to the Lord?

We could easily read Joshua 12 think it’s about the conquering of kings and miss out on an important truth about the character of our Father in heaven. Yes, it talks about the different places conquered, but do you realize what else is happening? Do you remember what Joshua was told before Israel crossed the Jordan?

“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:3-5

Those things which the Lord spoke to Joshua in prayer were fulfilled (and continuing to be fulfilled). When we see the Lord speaking to Joshua it’s in the same way He speaks to us today. So, Joshua prayed and then Joshua obeyed. He didn’t sit still after the Lord spoke to him; he went after the promises of the Lord. Saint Augustine said, “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.”

Some of you are waiting on the Lord after He has already spoken something into your life. I am sitting her considering the same thing right now. Each battle for Joshua and Israel was a step of faith. Each step of faith we take is a spiritual battle too, but we can’t just keep sitting around waiting when the Lord has already spoken. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake. It’s the abundant life He has promised that we miss out on when we walk in fear instead of faith. For someone today is the day you will find courage amid fear and step out in the faithfulness of the Lord. What He has said to you during your personal prayer time will manifest itself in your obedience to Him. Because He is faithful, faithful indeed… and when you go to work in His faithfulness, His promises come to pass.
