The playing field is not equal, but who says it should be? Each of our journeys have different circumstances and challenges. Our victories and obstacles aren’t the same, and that’s a beautiful part of life. Jesus is always teaching. He teaches a lot through life application with His disciples and even with us today. You will find many lessons Jesus teaches through the Gospels, happen while doing life.

“Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”” John 9:1-2

Jesus and the disciples come upon a blind man. What is the first thought of His disciples? This man’s physical ailment was caused by his sin or the sin of his parents. By the way, how can a man sin before he is born? Some of this reasoning was in the wrong belief of some type of reincarnation. The disciples were all over the place for sure. We can find ourselves thinking along these lines as well. We see someone dealing with issues physical or beyond and think, “I wonder what that person did to deserve (fill in the blank)?” Even asking the question about our own lives, “I wonder what I did to deserve (fill in the blank)?”

“Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”” John 9:3-5

There hasn’t been any promise of a level playing field, I am not sure why we expect that. We deal with all sorts of different things in life. Is the first assumption towards others or yourself, “What did so and so do to deserve this?” or “What did I do to deserve this?”. What if we looked at others and ourselves like the Lord look at us? Not looking to find blame but looking at redemption and restoration. Maybe you are dealing with a tough circumstance or someone you know is. This would be a good time to show compassion and share the love of Jesus. That’s the way people will see Jesus is the light of the world. Check out Matthew 5:16.
