“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,” Hebrews 3:1

Not just “brethren” which is an endearing term anyway but “holy brethren”. He is writing to the church who have been set apart by faith in Jesus. Then the Bible says, “Partakers of the heavenly calling” … we are partaking in the kingdom of heaven on earth, amen and amen! Let us consider Jesus, yes!

Then we read this repeated in verse 7 & 15 from Psalm 95, “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,” (Hebrews 3:7-8 partial).

Being a Born-again Believer means you can and should be hearing from the Lord. Have you listened for Him to speak lately? Often, we can talk to Him but not have an expectation of Him responding. Other times He speaks through His Word, pastor, friend, family member, quiet time, or current situation and we just don’t listen. Maybe, because it’s uncomfortable or not to your liking to respond to His still small voice. When is the last time you did something that went against what you had already planned after praying? If it’s been a while or never, maybe it’s because you aren’t listening or rebelling against the voice of the Lord. This is what it means “hardening your heart” and the results are devastating to your relationship with Jesus and peace in your life. Sit down, talk to Him, listen for His voice and respond even if you don’t understand why or how. This is part of having faith and trusting Him and we all have a little more trusting we can do!
