“Stay salty and shine bright” was on a shirt Chelsea almost bought. She decided against it because the design wasn’t as legit as another but that saying is still on point.

Paul, being led by the Holy Spirit, is writing to the church at Corinth using the Old Testament as an example. He writes, “But if the ministry of death written and engraved on stones was glorious…” which is speaking to Moses receiving the 10 commandments from God on Mount Sinai.

Notice he writes about Moses, “unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.” (2 Corinthians 3:13). He was reminding us of when Moses spent 40 days on Mt. Sinai with God that God’s presence made Moses’ face shine bright. Moses would come down with a shining face. Israel feared his face shining so they asked him to put a veil over his face.

Here’s the deal, when we take time to spend with the Father like Moses did (whether by reading our Bibles or spend time talking to the Father in a quiet place) we shine bright spiritually. It’s like an inner light that shines through to a dark world. We come out of that time looking more like Christ, shining bright and being salty to a tasteless world.

Jesus said this, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Oh yeah and this, ““You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” Matthew 5:13

Want to “stay salty and shine bright”? First, take time to spend with the Father. Praying is simply talking and listening to Him. I often pray, then read the Bible, and the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to speak into my life.

Take time getting to know the Father and His Word and watch as you become salty and bright. Then continue to grow in those habits daily. The world needs shiny and salty followers of Jesus. So, come on and “stay salty and shine bright”.
