Oh, look a squirrel! How easily we can be distracted at times. Maybe not you but I for sure can be easily distracted. Often that distraction is of way less of importance as well.

This letter was written to the church in Corinth @58AD. That was around 25 years from Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. You can see from this chapter there were already so many distractions from what was important. Men had come to the area and started preaching another gospel. Paul says, “For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!” 2 Corinthians 11:4

Guess what?! This isn’t the only area this was happening at. The churches in the area of Galatia were having some of the same attacks, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

If we do not know what is true, we can easily be distracted by what is false. The only way to know what is true is to spend time with the Father and in His Word. It’s not about legalism, it’s about knowing Him and know His Word. There is a lot of “extra” going around in this world today and a lot of people distracted by that "extra”. There is nothing like the grace of God, knowing Him and knowing His Word. I hope you aren’t settling for less and being distracted. Oh, look a squirrel!
