The psalmist writes, “We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments;” Psalms 78:4-7

As the psalm continues, we read about the grace and generosity of God and the rebelliousness and disobedience of people. It’s the true story of the redemptive power of God.

We read, “And delivered His strength into captivity, And His glory into the enemy’s hand. He also gave His people over to the sword and was furious with His inheritance.” Psalms 78:61-62

Who’s glory? Who’s people? Who’s inheritance? The Lord’s. In the middle of the story, we find out it’s not our story but His story. How do you share your testimony? Who’s it about?

Two things are important: (1) It’s imperative we tell the story of God’s grace in our lives to the younger generation and, (2) our testimony is of the Lord’s faithfulness and redemptive power. Will you be sharing this with others? I hope we do because we all should be!
