What do we do when we see evil in the world? Or even when we experience evil?

As David runs for his life from Saul he writes, “My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men Who are set on fire, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.” (Psalms 57:4).    What David writes we can resonate with on some level because there is evil in this world. To some extent, some greater than others, we’ve all experienced the effect of evil firsthand. What do we do?

David gives us a blueprint… “I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.” Psalms 57:2, 7-11

As darkness grows greater in this world focus on the Light. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Our blueprint for when we experience evil is to in-turn experience Jesus. Worship Him, call out to Him. There is no replacement to calling out to the Lord. Anything or anyone you turn to first will only bring satisfaction for a short time. So, today let your blueprint, your plan to be prayer and worship!
