During a conversation with someone recently the statement was made, “Well, what reward is in that for you?”

We read in Proverbs 49:18, “Though while he lives, he congratulates himself— And though men praise you when you do well for yourself—” speaking about people trusting in themselves. The Psalm also says, “Even those who trust in their wealth and boast in the abundance of their riches? No man can by any means redeem his brother or give to God a ransom for him— For the redemption of his soul is costly, and he should cease trying forever—” Psalms 49:6-8

Successes in life are a beautiful thing. But it’s not our successes that bring salvation. Some of the most successful in this life still perished in their sins. Why? Because they trusted in those successes instead of the Savior. Enjoy success, celebrate it in your life and others, but turn to Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. He is greater than any success you will ever have!
