David is on the run for his life, so he decides to run to where his enemies live, Philistia. It’s believed Psalm 141 is near this time. We find what’s in David’s heart, “And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So, I shall escape out of his hand.” I Samuel 27:1.

Alongside this we read, “Lord, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You. Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” Psalms 141:1-2

The Lord had sent Samuel to anoint David the next king of Israel years before this moment. Yet in this moment David (prior to becoming king) believed different. In David’s heart he was led by his situation, not his Savior. We can find ourselves, like David, believing things contrary to what the Lord has spoken. Maybe you can relate?

David makes some mistakes in the middle of his disbelief. But everything the Lord spoke came to pass. Let’s live in faith, not fear. The Lord has started something in you and will bring it to pass until His return. The Bible says so, so that settles it!
