Psalms 120-134, are the "Songs of Ascents," & were sung by Jewish pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem for sacred feasts. Jerusalem sits atop a hill, so the journey involved an upward climb. Imagine traveling wtih family, supplies in tow, by foot or animal on dusty dirt roads. The trip was challenging, yet they worshipped with joy.
"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing- Life forevermore." Ps 133:1-3
As they journeyed, they cried out to the Lord for help, praised Him, and remembered His faithfulness in their lives. They sang of unity and trusted God for their very breath and salvation, all while navigating a difficult path.
What keeps you from praising & remembering God's goodness, & living in unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ? Our roads can be tough too, but nothing should hinder our praise, worship, or unity. Being in community with other believers helps us stay the course. Will you worship & praise?
