It's all...

"Again the word of the LORD came to me..." is how this chapter begins. May we all maintain a heart posture that is open to hearing from the Lord. Once again, the Lord speaks to Ezekiel, revealing His heart for Israel, the depth of their unfaithfulness, and His desire for their restoration.

"Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you," says the Lord GOD." Ezekiel 16:14

Notice the relational tone throughout this chapter. It begins with Israel's birth, describes how the Lord lovingly cared for and established His people, exposes their spiritual harlotry, and concludes with the promise of restoration through His covenant faithfulness.

Through it all, one thing stands out: It's all relational.

From the beginning, the Lord has desired to dwell with and among His people. Even when Israel turned away, His covenant love and faithfulness remained. His desire was never simply outward obedience, but hearts devoted to Him. He calls His people to repentance, inviting them to return to the One who first loved them.

Is your heart open to hearing from the Lord? Do you intentionally maintain a posture of listening and responding to His voice?

The Creator of the universe desires a relationship with us. Think about that! The One who needs nothing from us graciously invites us to know Him and walk with Him. And through Jesus Christ, He has made the way for that relationship to be restored.

Today, don't allow other things, distractions, or desires to take the place that belongs to Him. Choose to turn your heart toward the Lord, to listen, to trust, and to follow.

He loved us first. May our lives be a response to that love.
