Consider the psalmists words, “If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.” Psalms 130:3-5, 7-8

When this was penned Israel’s hope was in the Old Covenant regulations. We read more about this in Hebrews 10:1-3, “For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year.”

There was a reminder daily, weekly, yearly of their sins. It’s important to be aware of our sins but it’s even more important to be aware of our Savior. Hebrews 10 continues talking about Jesus and we read, “then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:9-10

What a great hope we have in Jesus! Do you rest in that hope? Does the realization of His great love and ultimate sacrifice occupy your mind more than your failure and sin? As we hope in Jesus, it’s that hope which leads to transformation in our lives. So, let’s be Savior conscience and live being transformed by looking unto Jesus!
