“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (I Peter 5:8). Peter encourages the church to submit to each other, to elders, and resist proudness. The church is experiencing suffering which is because the oppression of Satan. Maybe, you are experiencing similar dealings?

This “roaring lion” description, where does Peter get this? Talking about the wicked Psalms 10:9-11 reads, “He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; He lies in wait to catch the poor; He catches the poor when he draws him into his net. So, he crouches, he lies low, That the helpless may fall by his strength.” Psalms 10:9-10

From David to Peter suffering was present. Today, our fight is the same. There’s an enemy of our soul. He lies in wait for those who don’t take the battle seriously. Pressing into Jesus and being a part of the church is imperative to overcoming the enemy’s tactic. Let’s honor the wisdom of God’s Word and be overcomers. Maybe, this will help!

Are you soaking in the Word of God? Get an audio Bible and listen in an earbud to have the Word read over you. Take time to read and study His Word at appointed times.

Are you pressing into Jesus? Start with at least 5 min of putting your phone away and any other device and just talk to Him. Grow from that time as you create a healthy habit.

Are you a part of the church? Get off the fringes and be a part of a local body of believers. Throughout your week take time to check on others in the church by phone or by getting coffee or dinner with them.
