“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6:16-19

We see the effects of pride, lying, injustice, wickedness, evil, and discord in this world. These all steal, kill, and destroy life. The word “hate” can mean enemy in the Hebrew. These things truly are an enemy of what is good, right, and just.

We sometimes take these verses to support our hatred toward things against what is good, right, and just. Let me say though it’s hard for us to comprehend hatred as stated here because we haven’t yet fully comprehended the love of God. Before we choose to “hate” shouldn’t we first choose to “love”? The world’s first choice is to cancel or hate. The Lord’s first choice is to love. Shouldn’t this be our first step as well?
