After saying something offensive to all in an earshot of Jesus the Bible says, “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.” John 6:66

The Proverb today speaks to confrontation:

“He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” (Proverbs 29:1)

“The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.” (Proverbs 29:15)

“Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.” (Proverbs 29:17)

“A servant will not be corrected by mere words; For though he understands, he will not respond.” (Proverbs 29:19)

“He who pampers his servant from childhood Will have him as a son in the end.” (Proverbs 29:21)

“Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:67-69

Sometimes the hardest words to receive are the ones best for our souls. It may not be music to our ears, but it is life giving to our souls.

May we be submitting ourselves to the Lord and a solid biblical community so the Holy Spirit can continue a deep work in our hearts. In Jesus name, AMEN!
