Where do we find satisfaction and contentment?

“A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.” Proverbs 27:7

When we’re searching, running on empty, feeling lonely, or frustrated we can look for answers in wrong places. If we do find satisfaction, it’s only momentarily. Paul from imprisonment wrote, “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:”. (Philippians 4:11). How could Paul be at one of the lowest points in life yet be satisfied and content? He didn’t look for it in himself or other things; he found it in Jesus, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Where are you looking for satisfaction and contentment? May we each search for Christ, bask in His goodness, and be immersed in His presence. Paul learned this and so can we, “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9
