Not trying to be mean but have you ever wondered how people with terrible voices thought they should audition for American Idol? Had no one ever told them?

“The ear that hears the rebukes of life Will abide among the wise. He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, but he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.” Proverbs 15:31-32

Sometimes what’s best for us is not what we really want to hear. We can run from truth. Hide from confrontation. Or even choose not to be spiritual admonition in others’ lives. But there is wisdom in receiving/giving rebuke at times. I’ve been on both ends of rebuke and when it’s handled wisely it’s been well for my soul.

I’m thankful the Lord has given His Holy Spirit to convict and confront me. I’m thankful the Lord has given me Christ-centered community to encourage me in Him. Are you? Don’t run from correction on either end. Let’s be willing to give/receive correction in order to be stronger in Christ. It may not be comfortable in the moment but it’s good for our soul.
