Are your hands full? What about your heart? If you are holding on to yesterday, then you will never be able to grab ahold of tomorrow.

Paul says, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.” Philippians 3:12-15

Paul can’t press toward the goal of the upward call of God in Jesus if he is holding on to yesterday. So, he says he is forgetting (not holding onto) his yesterday. On that thought, we can’t be holding on to someone’s yesterday either. Our hands and hearts can’t be full of yesterday’s if we want to lay ahold of today and tomorrow. Let go and give it to the Lord. Freedom is on your doorstep, but it takes letting go. To do that we need strength from the Lord. His grace is sufficient, His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Contentions, wrath, jealousy, selfishness, anger/frustration, and grudges are all things that need to be released from your grip and heart so you can pick up love, joy, peace, kindness, and goodness. The enemy of your souls wants nothing more than for you to hold on to those things that lead to destruction of you and your relationships. But the Father is reconciling and wants nothing more than to nurture good things in and around you. Let go!
