This second Passover shows us a time stamp in the scriptures. Here they are remembering the first Passover where they sacrificed a lamb and put its blood on their doorpost as the Lord commanded. The following day they left Egypt free from livelong bondage. We are at the start of their 2nd year.

When figuring out regulations about Passover we read, “‘And if a stranger dwells among you, and would keep the Lord’s Passover, he must do so according to the rite of the Passover and according to its ceremony; you shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’”” Numbers 9:14

It didn’t matter whether you were an Israelite or a foreigner. What mattered was whether you remembered the Lord’s goodness and were going to be obedient to Him. It didn’t matter your skin tone or your cultural background.

Hey… it’s the same for us today. It was obvious Israel depended on the Lord and it should be obvious we do as well. It doesn’t matter your cultural upbringing, traditions, or ways of doing things… what matters is whether we are going to worship the Lord or not. Guess what? The way you worship may look different than the fellowship down the street. Let it go! We need to realize the Lord wants His children to get along, speaking and living out praise to Him.

The Lord put ordinances into place so all could worship Him. At times we can let differences get in the way, but let’s be people who look for ways to worship the Lord together. He is worthy to be worshiped.
