Comfortable?

“Now Moses wrote down the starting points of their journeys at the command of the Lord. And these are their journeys according to their starting points:” Numbers 33:2

Throughout this chapter we read about each place Israel camped. According to Exodus 13 a cloud by day and fire by night led them through the wilderness. Over 2 million nomads would pack up their families and the tabernacle to move to 37 different places in 40 years. Life of comfort? I think not. Of course, Israel desired comfort. Even to the point of wanting to go back to Egypt (a place of bondage) a few times.

The church today isn’t called to comfort either. We can find ourselves at times desiring comfort over calling. The Lord wants us to find comfort in Him instead of people, places, or things. Yet we can find ourselves at times running to those things instead of Him. Let’s be willing to be uncomfortable and inconvenienced for the sake of the Gospel while finding comfort and rest in Christ alone along the way.
