Historically, what we read today time wise is close when Moses and the Lord met on Mt Sinai. Do you remember what the Lord told Moses? “And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” (Exodus 19:6).

Now, the Lord is setting apart only the tribe of Levi to be priest. Why? Moses came down from Mt. Sinai to Israel making an idol to worship. In response only one tribe sided with the Lord that day. “Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies), then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.” (Exodus 32:25-26)

The Lord recognized Levi’s faithfulness. He recognizes our faithfulness too. Even in seasons of hardship, even when we sin the Lord recognizes obedience and repentance. Now, Levi is being set apart to be priest.   And what does the priest do? Serves the people! “And they shall attend to his needs and the needs of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of meeting, to do the work of the tabernacle.” Numbers 3:7

What the Lord speaks about a kingdom of priests does come to pass though. After Jesus establishes the church we read, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” I Peter 2:9

Do you know Jesus? Are you in a good, healthy relationship with Jesus? Then know you’ve been set apart to serve the people on behalf of the Father. Walk in what Jesus died to give you. Freedom in Him. Be faithful. He knows, recognizes, and honors our faithfulness in Christ.
