“I have a question for you. Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” -Jesus

Is the Old Testament relevant? Absolutely! The Lord is instructing Moses on the sacrifices needing to be made at the appointed times. Each HOLY DAY had a certain sacrifice commanded. ““Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time.’” (Numbers 28:2). On these HOLY DAYS (Sabbaths) sacrifices were made even when the Lord says, “On the first day you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work.” Numbers 28:18

Say this with me, “doing good isn’t work, it’s kingdom opportunity.” Somewhere down the line things got twisted with tradition and rules became more important than doing good in the name of Lord. Even Jesus was challenged by the religious when healing on the Sabbath. Today, as we live for Jesus (EVERYDAY) we are a living sacrifice, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1

Your life, this day, is a sacrifice made to the Lord as you love like Jesus, have compassion like Jesus, and serve like Jesus. Let today, and every day, be about love not rules. When we love we fulfill the law anyway (Romans 13:8)!
