Sing it with me, “Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You want to be where you can see Our troubles are all the same”. Theme song from Cheers written in 1982!

Exodus covers @1 year from the end of Israel’s captivity in Egypt, Leviticus covers @1 month, and the book of Numbers covers 35+ years of history.

In the last chapter we read about the census now the Lord is commanding Moses to organize the tribes around the tabernacle which represented His presence. Notice something though, “And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:…” (Numbers 2:1). Then the Lord goes on to name the leader of each tribe. He not only knows their name but who their father is, “and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be the leader of the children of Judah.” (Numbers 2:3).

This wasn’t Moses telling Him their names and what they were up to so they could become leaders. The Lord personally knew the individuals in each tribe. He personally chose who would lead each tribe. He personally knew where He wanted each tribe to be situated. The Lord is in the details, even to this day!

Hey… He knows your name. He knows your thoughts. He knows everything about you. HE KNOWS YOU! Did you realize that? You don’t need to go to the local hangout to be known because you are already known by Him. The Psalmist knew this too when he wrote, “You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.” Psalms 139:2-3

He knows you! And He loves you!
