I hope you are taking time to read the Word and spend time with Jesus. As we read through Numbers there is much we can apply to our lives today.

Moses had sent them to spy out the land. They come back fearful and think of themselves grasshoppers in a land of giants, well everyone except Caleb and Joshua. They say, ““If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”” Numbers 14:2-3

Seasons in life get tough. It’s true for us all. Maybe you’re in a tough season and your thinking of past easier days. We all face pressures of the day. Those pressures may look different, but chances are the people you interact with daily are facing pressures as well. Sickness and death, financial matters, work and family pressures, relationship issues and plans are things we each deal with. Israel thought the answer was to go back to a place they were once in bondage. If you know Jesus, your past is the same; a place of bondage… not relief. Let’s not be fooled into looking back at our past but take courage in the future the Lord has for you. The Lord never said it was going to be easy. He did say there was hope no matter the circumstance. And that hope is Jesus, the resurrected King. He defeated death and saved us from sin and shame.

Tonight, as you lay down why not take time to thank the Lord for all He has done. Take a moment to thank Him for where you are. Turn those thoughts of sorrow and defeat into joy and victory. Jesus died and made sinful people bent towards hell free from sin and shame and able to be in the Father’s holy presence. If He can do that surely He can do great things with our momentary affliction.
