We have just passed through Israel’s first complaint. We’ve watched as the Lord has responded to Moses’ cry. Quail has been sent by the Lord until no more quail could be eaten and we come to Aaron and Miriam speaking against Moses. “Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.” Numbers 12:1-2

What’s the Lord’s response? “So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.” Numbers 12:9-10

We could ask why nothing happened to Aaron. Why did the Lord respond this way? Why only Miriam? Maybe you can think of a couple questions of why the Lord makes certain decisions? But isn’t that the same thing Aaron and Miriam were doing in this Scripture? See, they weren’t speaking against Moses as much as they were questioning if the Lord knew what He was doing or not. We can spend our days questioning every response of the Lord or we can spend it praising and living for Him? Or course things will happen we don’t understand, but we aren’t called to understanding we are called to a life of faith.

This is difficult for me at times, maybe for you too? Let’s step out in faith, honor the Lord and others, love the Lord and others, and let the Lord handle the details. We can be sure the Lord is in details.
