Real life. There are ups and downs in life, but you just know the Lord is always at work in your life and those around.   It’s unfortunate we begin this chapter with Israel complaining. How easy it is for us to forget what the Lord has done for us and start complaining about our current circumstances. But let’s not focus on the complaints, instead let’s focus on good things the Lord is doing.

Prior to this we saw the Lord specifically put leaders into positions over tribes. He called them by name and commanded Moses to put those specific men in leadership over each tribe. What do we see now? “So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.” Numbers 11:16-17

Here is the best part. The Lord trusted Moses to choose these men and it was right after Moses cried out in frustration to the Lord. The Lord’s response wasn’t frustration with Moses but a way to help propel him to lead well. This wasn’t the same with the complaints of Israel. Remember, the Lord recognizes our hearts and responds accordingly. Look at Moses heart, “Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”” Numbers 11:29

Life happens. Times get difficult. We are faced with real life. Remember, the Lord knows our heart. Pursue Him and all His ways and know even in difficult times His heart is to propel us forward in serving Him and His kingdom.
