Oh, how much the Lord has done for each of us. Whether He gets credit or not the Lord’s goodness and mercy is all around us.

We’ve read up to this point how the Lord has been preparing Israel for what lies ahead. Do you see His goodness in what He is doing for Israel? We live in a fallen world so it’s important to remember even with His promises there will still be battles BUT He goes before us. We see this in Israel’s case and in our lives today. This was supposed to be an eleven-day journey. We read, “It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.” (Deuteronomy 1:2). Yet it takes Israel 38 years to get into the promise land. We will read in the upcoming chapters why.

That wasn’t the heart of the Lord though. He always has our best in mind. His planning was for their best. Their decisions would lead to their worst. The question we need to ask ourselves is whether we will walk in His best or spend life in the wilderness of disobedience and complaints. That’s what Israel chose what will you choose?

Here’s something so cool. As we trust and follow the Lord others are blessed as well. Look what Moses tells his father-in-law, “And it shall be, if you go with us—indeed it shall be—that whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same we will do to you.”” (Numbers 10:32). Let’s choose His best and pray others are blessed because of it.   Father, forgive me. I’ve been guilty of not choosing your best for me. Trying to do it my way and complaining. I want Your best for my life. I want You best for others as well. Today, tomorrow, and beyond strengthen me afresh to live for You. In Jesus name, AMEN!
