Jesus' first teaching thru discourse: The Sermon on the Mount. Until this point Jesus has been traveling around healing and speaking to small pockets of people. Now, with authority Jesus shares some strong words about His kingdom and what it means to follow after Him.
Everything from worrying to divorce is spoken about by Jesus. We could make a top 10 list of what we think is most important but Jesus' main point is loving Him and loving others. Regardless of how others treat you what's important is how you represent the Father to a lost and broken world.
Jesus says, "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven..." Matt 5:44-45
The best way to rep Jesus is to lay down all our offenses towards EVERYONE. And the only way to do that is to spend time with Jesus each day. Allowing Holy Spirit to lead and minister to you. He softened your heart towards Him and He can AND WILL soften your heart towards EVERYONE else. Go to Him. Don't be offended. Let the living water of His presence minister to you. Worship Him!
