Honestly here… this is one of my biggest battles. I pray for each of us who may battle with the same.
Jesus has just been baptized. We read, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.” (Matthew 4:1-2).
What do you think Jesus did during that time? I can tell you I would’ve been wondering in my thoughts, inventing/playing games to pass the time, and looking to keep myself occupied. What would that look like today? Netflix, social media, whatever to pass the time. Then when the time came to overcome the temptation chances are I wouldn’t be ready.
Jesus knew who He was, who’s He was, and what His Father has said to Him because He spent that time with Him. We can find ourselves responding poorly at times and not knowing what to do when things come our way because of our lack of time with the Lord. Maybe? Not sure about you but I can say this is a battle of mine.
You can’t fill up on your favorite tv show, social media for hours, and games and expect to be an overcomer. Now, before you think I’m all judge-y know I’m speaking to myself. A wise lady shared me with the other day, “Wishing for us to follow Jesus more closely in 2022”. We can be equipped and ready when we are creature of His presence. Let’s be ready. Let’s be spending time with Him!
