It’s not what we say but what we do! We say a lot but what we do is what’s makes the difference.   Jesus continues to share more parables. We first read about these virgins with lamps.

Oil represents Holy Spirit in the Bible. For our light to shine we must be full of His Spirit. Even though they were all pure morally there were only some full of His Spirit. We learn it’s not morality but being born-again that matters when Jesus comes.

Then we read about the talents. We learn the Lord is the one who provides no matter what we have. We also have the ability to take what’s been given to us and multiply it. The person who got one talent ended up burying it instead of being fruitful. The most telling part is how he thinks of the master, “‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.” (Matthew 25:24).

It’s not what you have or what you can do that matters; Its who you know. It’s evident this servant didn’t know the true character of the master. There was no relationship between them.

Lastly, we learn there will be a time when those born-again will enter heaven and those who are not join the devil and his angels in hell. Hell wasn’t prepared for people but when someone rejects Jesus, He gives them the desire of their heart. We read, “…into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matthew 25:41).

Jesus teaches us a lot with these parables. He gives us a picture of His kingdom versus the kingdom of this world. The world’s system teaches we need to be about ourselves where the kingdom of God is about caring for all. It’s not what we say that matters but what we do. Read for yourself verses, 31-47. We must be born-again (John 3). When Jesus is the center of our lives how we walk, what we have, and who we serve all have to do with His kingdom not this kingdom.
