Justin Timberlake… Britney Spears… Christina Aguilera… had a huge fan club. Even today (since the Mickey Mouse Club) they still have fans. If you’ve been a life-long fan, let’s be honest, there hasn’t been a life-changing impact. If it has, call me, we can pray over you together! Haha!

Jesus is entering Jerusalem beginning what would be a week-long journey to the cross. We see multiple times crowds of people adoring Him:

“Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed crying out basically saying He was the Messiah: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”” (Matthew 21:9). Also, “But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” Matthew 21:15

On the other hand, we have others saying something different about Jesus, “So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”” (Matthew 21:11). Also, “But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet.” Matthew 21:46

There is a big difference in Jesus the Son of David (“The Messiah”) and Jesus the prophet. People believing Jesus is a prophet is just being a fan of His. Those believing He is the Messiah is them being a follower of His. There’s a big difference between being a fan and being a follower. One is life changing and the other doesn’t change anything. What are you… a fan or a follower?
