Why would He?

Jesus is leading His disciples to Jerusalem. He has told them what to expect, but they haven't comprehended what's about to take place. Just before this Peter asks a question concerning them leaving all to follow Jesus. He answers with a parable (20:1-16).

Now, a mother of two of Jesus' disciples ask Him to give them a prominent seat in His coming kingdom. He uses this for a teaching moment. Jesus says, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."" Matt 20:25-28

What the Lord does in our lives is ALWAYS for a purpose. With each healing, victory, breakthrough, promotion, and position it comes with opportunity to glorify the great name of Jesus. Yes, He blesses and we're blessed, but our blessings are for others and for the advancement of the kingdom of God. What are you doing with your blessings?
