You are disciple making whether you realize it. The decisions we make, words we use, and attitudes we have aren’t only reflective of our heart but are also influential to those around us.

We’re taught many lessons by Jesus in this section of Scripture. You might not realize Jesus is on the go during these teaching moments: Walking through grainfields (v1), in the synagogue (v9), withdrawing to another place (v15), and eventually in the middle of a crowd (v46). Remember, as were living life teaching (discipling) is taking place. We have the opportunity to teach (disciple) the truth and love of Christ throughout our day. The question is, “what will we teach (disciple)?

Look at what Jesus says, “For the mouth speaks from that which fills the heart. The good person brings out of his good treasure good things; and the evil person brings out of his evil treasure evil things. But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”” Matthew 12:34-37

Freshly convicted here. I can be guilty at times of using my mouth as a weapon instead of giving life. What are you discipling others by what you say? Chelsea and I realize our kids soak up our words and actions towards each other. There are times I’ve had to apologize to my kids for what I said or how I said it. I’m still learning. You’re still learning. We learn and disciple at the same time. I need God’s grace. I also need to extend God’s grace. On this journey of pursuing Christ let’s be found using our words to give life not as weapons to tear down.
