Expectations verses what really transpires often differs in life. There are so many times where I expected different results. Can you relate?

Jesus has just finished teaching His disciples. We see John send his disciples to Jesus with a question. “And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”” Matthew 11:2-3

John had been bold in following the Lord. Remember he witnessed the voice of God saying at Jesus’ baptism, “This is My Beloved Son.” Now, life has thrown some punches at John, and he sits in prison. He probably contemplated his death was close too. In this moment John was questioning if things he saw, heard, and experienced were right. His expectation of how things were turning out were different.

Sometimes our actions are based on our expectations. When those expectations don’t happen, we can become discouraged. This can lead to questioning ourselves or even the Lord. It can happen to all of us.

Jesus was quick to remind John people’s lives were being touched by Him. Transformation was still taking place even if life wasn’t turning out the way John expected. Jesus was still at readily at work.

Be encouraged disciple! Even in this moment if everything is not going the way you expected the King is still at work and He has all of heaven as His disposal. The Kingdom of heaven is stirring on this earth. He says to all who are laboring, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30
