Jesus is getting challenged by the Pharisees and scribes. It’s funny how He was just doing lifesaving people from sins; loving people intentionally and all these religious people could do was try to bring accusations against Him. They were so steeped in their traditions they missed what was important. They thought if they could do just enough, behave a certain way, follow certain rules surely God would favor them. You know we can get caught up on conditional love like that. We think if we can do this or that surely it will be reciprocated.

Can I share something with you? The love of God is unconditional. That might sound dangerous, people walk around doing what they want thinking God will love them even though. He does love them, but it will also break His heart because He is also just. The Bible says if we have broken the law in one place, we have broken it all (James 2:10). Meaning, we have all sinned and fallen short (Romans 3:23). There is only on thing, excuse me, one Person who can change you and me… Jesus. His shed blood on the cross of Calvary.

Loved one, don’t live a life of works thinking that’s what saves you. It’s by the Father’s grace because of what Jesus did. Put your faith in His substitutionary death on the cross.

“He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” Mark 7:6-7

Let’s not be people who honor Him with our lips but be people who put our faith in Him and watch as He transforms our whole lives.
