The gospel of Mark is in sequential order. By the time we get to the sending of Jesus’ disciples out two by two it’s only been around a year-ish of their time with Him. We read, “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” Mark 6:12-13
Do you understand this? In just around a year’s time Jesus is sending His disciples out by themselves. Just so we’re on the same page understand this type of ministry was new. The way Jesus taught, ministered, and presented the kingdom of God was brand new to His disciples. Jesus sent them and they were obedient to go! Even when it was new to them and the exact opposite of the cultural norm.
He has called us to do the same. He has given us faith, transformed the way we think, the way we live, and has called us to be witnesses of His grace and mercy. Even more so He’s given us His Spirit. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.” Acts 1:8
You and me… we’ve been made new to share with others His story and our repentance. We all have people in our lives RIGHT NOW who need the same offer we’ve received. Jesus lived and died in our place. We get the chance every day to do just as the disciples did. Let’s make every day count!
